1) Take Off the Door Panel
Gently remove the interior door panel to reach the window glass and wiring area. Set screws and clips aside carefully to prevent damage.

2) Measure & Apply the Film (Dry Application Only)
Measure the glass accurately and trim the smart film to size.

  ⚠️ The glass must be completely clean and fully dry.
  ⚠️ Do NOT use water or soap solution.

Peel off the protective layer and carefully place the film evenly onto the dry glass. Press firmly to push out any air pockets. Do not bend, fold, or crease the film.

3) Wire the Power Connection
Route the film wires securely inside the door panel. Connect them to the supplied inverter, then wire the inverter to the vehicle’s 12V ACC power source.

4) Mount the Inverter
Position the inverter securely within the door panel.

5) Test Before Reassembly
Turn the ignition on and verify both clear and dark modes work correctly before putting the door panel back.

6) Reattach the Door Panel
Once everything is working, reattach the door panel carefully and tighten all screws.

Key Precautions

  • Keep the electrical copper edges clean and dry
  • Do not power on the film until the install is fully complete
  • Make sure all wiring is insulated and fastened properly

How PDLC Smart Tint Works

TapTint uses advanced PDLC technology with liquid crystal particles embedded within the film.

When power is applied, the particles align to allow light through for a clear view. Reduce the voltage, and the particles scatter to produce a frosted haze for privacy.

As the voltage goes up, the film gets clearer. Lower the voltage, and the tint gets more frosted for greater privacy. The film remains frosted in its default state when the vehicle is turned off.
